Ussins

This blog is devoted to the delights of my wife and children. I am Alex Hall, my wife is Tia, and our children have web pseudonyms here.

Our first, a boy, goes here by Mago Elf Liam; Gaelic for “Great Elf William”.

Our second, a girl, goes here by Nem-nem Niamh; Nem-nem is whimsical nonsense (like “Nummy” (Yummy), and Niamh is an Irish name pronounced “nee-uv” (which I expect confusion about, which doesn’t bother me–and it has been Anglicized as Neve). In Irish mythology, Niamh* is a queen of the land of promise, which is exactly who she is.** We also call her more simply Nem-nem or just Nem.

Our third, a girl, I call Little Bug.

*I formerly had that as Niamh/Naevh, and I no longer know where I got “Naevh” spelling, and for years in my ignorance I somehow had Niamh mispelled alternately as Naemh in this very same page–and many other places!
**I thought I read somewhere that she is the princess of?–now I can only find information that she’s an immortal in the Irish mythological Otherworld or land of promise or other names of the place.
